Produce higher quality wood faster,
using less energy.

The use of wood in the world is increasing. Customer demands and competitors become tougher as well as the market awareness of the environment and sustainable use of Earth's resources.

Alent Dynamic® has a patented method for wood drying, which is closely related to how nature works, but faster. Our dynamic method subjects the wood to significantly less harmful load and require less power consumption, even though it does the work in less time.

The Alent Dynamic®-method

The conventional method

Conventional wood drying since 1950The wood is bombarded with an uninterrupted flow of hot air from start to finish.

Our competitors' method

The "slow-down" method since 1990The fans are set to gradually slow down near the end of the drying process, but the flow of hot air remains constant.

Oscillating / interval wood drying
since 2010

The patented Alent method cycles between short intervals of full ventilation and full wind effect, and longer intervals of rest.

When the wood is bombarded with hot air, the surface (“the shell”) becomes both warmer and drier than the core. The relative difference in moisture content is what drives moisture migration outwardly, but the difference in temperature becomes a resistance which counteracts migration of moisture.

The Alent Dynamic®-method on the other hand, treats the wood surface in cycles, first with full fan speed and high temperature for a short time and then stops completely to allow the wood to rest while the moisture continues to flow and rewetting the surface.

When the fans are turned off, the heat on the wood surface starts to decrease as the liquid that reaches the surface use the heat energy in the wood surface to evaporate. The temperature difference is first reduced, to after a while turn completely, whereupon the two forces work together to drive the moisture out.

The surface is allowed to re-moisturize and the load on the wood decreases. When the moisture gradient is levelled out enough for the moisture migration to stop, the next cycle starts.

Increased accuracy and new opportunities with online moisture measurement

The Alent Dynamic®-method’s rapid climate cycles makes it possible to estimate the wood moisture content during the drying process and the accuracy is increased for each cycle (stroke) so that the drying can be terminated at the correct moisture content.

The WMC Soft Sensor is patented and will be a central part of Alent’s continued efforts to develop the wood drying process.

Compatibility and installation

Alent Dynamic® works with all kind of kilns. We have installed our system in more than 40 different models of kilns from 15 different manufacturers, from new ones to as old as 40 years.
