Dynamic drying process from Alent Dynamic used for Oak drying

Due to increasing prices for electrical energy, we have decided to invest in a more environmental friendly control for our drying process of solid oak. With the patented Alent Dynamic method of “interval drying” we have reduced the electrical consumption in average by 50-55%. At the same time, we have now a faster drying process, which in turns, increases production capacity. With all these benefits we can count on a return-on-investment in the short term.

Technology leap in wood drying has saved hundreds of millions of kWh

More than 10 years have passed since Alent Dynamic introduced the Alent pump as a technological leap in wood drying. The new drying method has now saved over 400 million kilowatt hours of electricity at the sawmills and it will increase at a faster pace as Alent gets more and more new customers and existing customers buy more systems. Alent had a sales record during the first half of 2021 and now pump drying has increased sharply also for hardwood (Oak, beech, etc.).

Kick-off for the next step in automatic woAlent Dynamic and the Control Engineering Group at Luleå University of Technology work together on a project to develop fully automatic wood drying using machine learning and self-correcting AI tools.

The aim of this project is to achieve high quality accuracy for all product schedules through an increased level of automation and digitizing. Additionally also to increase the energy and resource efficiency of wood drying.

Calibration and self-correction tools will be developed jointly with available tools from system identification and machine learning to estimate the condition of the kiln and correct for errors and, overall, make it easier to dry optimally.d drying

New kilns with Alent interval technique

A new proof of Alent superior drying technology are the new generation of kilns. Kiln manufacturer BaltBrand in Latvia is the latest one in line to offer Alent interval drying. They have received a series of orders from one of the world's largest forestry group.

“Our interval technology for wood drying with alternating hard and soft drying is gentle on the wood. If we also get to dimension the kiln to meet our technology, there seems to be no major restrictions on how fast you can dry and with lower energy consumption, ” says Peder Björkman, CEO of Alent Dynamic AB.

Italian kiln manufacturer OS Panto has already around 80 Alent controlled kilns at customers and has been supplying new super kilns with Alent technology for a year.

Alent has developed the interval technology so that we now can increase production further a level in old kilns and at the same time reduce energy consumption.
